Death Metal spezial: Die Band Comecon (1992)

Heute geht es um eine bahnbrechende Schallplatte, die zum Reflektieren darüber einlädt, warum sie so weit vorne ist; bzw. warum der Rest der Welt so weit hinten ist: Vor zwanzig Jahren erschien die erste Platte der schwedischen Band Comecon.

Thematisch eine einzige tour de force durch die Ideologiengeschichte Europas im 20. Jahrhundert, in einem Song sogar – und das 1992! – die Eurokrise und insbesondere die Rolle Deutschlands darin vorwegnehmend ... Statt wie im kommunistischen Manifest, dessen letzter Satz ja „eine Welt zu gewinnen“ in Aussicht stellt („a world to win“), ist hier die Rede davon, „eine Welt zu verschlingen“ („a world to devour“) – kein Zweifel: es geht um die ökonomische Krise (1) und es geht um Deutschland, (2) das seine neurotisch verkniffene Arbeitswut und „Lohnzurückhaltung“ als Exportstreber und Disziplinarexperte (3) nun voller Genugtuung und kaum verhohlener Niedertracht den ökonomisch dahinsiechenden Europäern (4) anempfehlen will – und derart sich selbst als Zuchtmeister bewirbt, der es an der nötigen, bisher noch verbalen Kraftmeierei nicht fehlen läßt: „Wir befinden uns in Europa in einer gewissen Zeitenwende.“ „Auf einmal wird in Europa deutsch gesprochen“. „Wir spüren [spüren!], daß wir dieses Europa in eine neue Zeit führen[!] müssen.“ (5) Nur die Vorsehung blieb diesmal unerwähnt.
