Um einen bescheidenen Eindruck davon zu bekommen, in welchem musikalischen Koordinatensystem, in welchem stilistischen Spektrum sich die Sendung ohne Gebrauchsmusik seit jeher bewegt, beschaue man die Platten des Jahres, die (in der Sendung ohne Aktualitätsdiktat) kaum je aktuelle gewesen sind. Immer zur letzten Woche eines jeden Monats gab es hier ein Stück dieser auserwählten Platte des Jahres zu hören.

Kriterien:

• Die Platte muß ausnehmend gut, ja erlesen sein
• Die Platte muß durchgängig gut sein
• Die Platte darf, muß aber nicht aktuell sein
• Die Platte verdient es ausnahmsweise, ein Album genannt zu werden

Zum 10. Geburtstag der Sendung Hörsturz gab es dann aus gegebenem Anlaß eine Geburtstagstorte, d.h. statt nur einer Platte des Jahres derer gleich fünf, eine fünfstöckige musikalische Torte. Und wie gehabt, jeden Monat je ein Stück – von jeder Tortenschicht ...
